The first heart transplant was performed in early March of this year, allowing Mr. Chu, who had heart failure and was once urgently intubated and treated with cardiac boosting agents, to be reborn with a new heart, and Mr. Chu also overcame post-operative acute rejection and infection risks, and returned home safely yesterday.
The main reason for this is that the person who has been hospitalized repeatedly due to ischemic heart disease combined with heart failure, and repeatedly accumulation of fluid in the lungs, was once urgently intubated and treated with cardiac boosting agents, and the doctor recommended a heart transplant to save his life. Through bypass surgery, medication and integrated care for heart failure across teams, Wan Fang Hospital allowed Mr. Chu to wait for his new heart to arrive. Mr. Chu underwent nearly seven hours of surgery on March 9 and returned home safely yesterday.
The main surgeon of this transplant surgery, the vice president of Wanfang Hospital and cardiovascular surgeon Shi Junzhe said, Mr. Chu early heart surgery, the affected part of the serious adhesion, transplantation preoperations took a lot of effort, heart transplant surgery from the donor heart aorta clamping extraction, need to be completed in the golden 6 hours and the recipient suture and blood transfusion, the tight time pressure needs to be completed seamlessly between the team.
The hospital said it has set up an organ transplant center in recent years to implement the "patient-centered" medical philosophy and integrate the approved transplant surgeons from the Department of Health and Welfare within the hospital to obtain living, cadaveric kidney and liver and heart transplant qualifications to provide professional organ transplant medical services.
