Taipei Medical University Hospital (TMUH) held its 14th Superintendent Inauguration Ceremony today (31). Under the supervision of President Chien-Huang Lin of Taipei Medical University, Director Chun-Ming Shih of the Taipei Medical University Center for Management and Development received the seal from Acting Superintendent Chun-Chao Chang and officially became the 14th Superintendent of Taipei Medical University. He pledges to continue the hospital's three primary missions of clinical services, education, and research, as the foundation for advancing healthcare quality and improving medical services, and to lead TMUH in challenging the medical center accreditation and setting new milestones in medical excellence.

Newly appointed Superintendent Chun-Ming Shih has a strong background in cardiology and has served in the Taipei Medical University system for 25 years. He has held various positions, including Director of Medical Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Medical Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Medical Quality, Deputy Superintendent of Education, Director of the Center for Management and Development of TMUH, and Executive Director of the Taipei Heart Institute of Taipei Medical University, with extensive clinical experience and complete administrative background.

During his tenure as Director of the Taipei Medical University Center for Management and Development, Superintendent Chun-Ming Shih helped promote the integration and development of resources within the university system and continuously expanded the medical and healthcare industry chain at Taipei Medical University. During his time at TMUH, he promoted various projects such as strengthening specialty medical services, integrating holistic care, digitizing clinical operations, and establishing business intelligence systems. He also actively participated in and promoted international medical affairs, such as providing medical assistance to the people of friendly nations such as Guatemala and Swaziland and assuming the responsibility of medical diplomacy.

In line with the concept of regional healthcare quality improvement and mutual prosperity, Superintendent Chun-Ming Shih, while serving as Deputy Superintendent at TMUH, invested resources and led the formation of the "Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety Alliance" among six hospitals in the Greater Taipei area. The alliance aims to promote cross-hospital clinical care and medical quality information sharing. He has also actively participated in various quality competitions, including the Symbol of National Quality (SNQ), the National Innovation Award, and the Disease-Specific Care Certification Program of the Joint Commission of Taiwan.

Superintendent Chun-Ming Shih noted that TMUH has been actively developing holistic medicine in recent years, providing "patient-centered" services by expanding medical services from disease treatment to mental health. The newly opened Tsai Wan-Tsai Cancer Building and the TMUH Proton Center have significantly improved the level of cancer care within the TMU medical system. In addition, TMUH also reaches out to rural areas by providing mobile medical services in conjunction with telemedicine, fulfilling the social responsibility of the healthcare industry.
